I love Diptyque candles. I love the dancing letters and the scents and the images that they're usually seen in and the stores and the names and the fonts and the scent stories. They're very magical. Boxing up my Diptyque candles was almost harder than boxing up my own Otho candles. I love the weighty 6.5oz jars and the mini tea lights that let you test new scents.
Diptyque candles also have an amazing fan following. People literally resell their used glass jars. I have quite a few I've cleaned out and saved and used for makeup brushes and q tips (a large thank you to IntoTheGloss old days for romanticizing this idea). Also total tangent but Emily Weiss did an amazing job of selling Diptyque candles. I still love this scent solely off of this blog post. And can recall many a 'top shelf' images largely based on those iconic candles.
On the flip side, Diptyque candles are made of paraffin wax. Gross.
I don't want paraffin burning in my house, around my kids, or rotting in my garage to be honest. So I'm torn between my love of their magic and not wanting their (unlisted by the way) ingredients in my house.
Right now I'm working on testing a few 100% pure beeswax refill pillar candles for my empty Diptyque jars. I wonder if it'll still hold a little of that brand magic but without the nasty paraffin? Will report back soon.
