Capsule Makeup Bag

Hi!  I’m Aubree, the founder of Otho Cosmetics.  I’m an inventor’s daughter and have a passion for the beauty industry.  I believe in basics and routines and honestly get easily overwhelmed by all of the options out there, so here is the makeup routine / capsule makeup bag I’ve been using for over ten years as my tried and true staples.  I try to not buy a new item for the routine until I actually finish one, whether I’m repurchasing or trying something new.

Violet Grey Makeup Bag

Violet Grey Makeup Bag, Large - they only have the small size listed currently, but the large size has been in a few of their Christmas gift boxes and I've used it for years and still love it!

Capsule Makeup Bag Routine

Tried and true products used over the last ten years - some of them honestly should be switched out by now but are discontinued and I still love them.  The Nars 'And God Made Woman' palette is a favorite for the name, love it, and for the taupe 'Belissima' eyeshadow color.  It's the perfect 'shadow' color that truly creates a shadow in your eye socket and creates the hint of a smoky eye great for everyday.

Capsule Makeup Bag Every Day Essentials

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask - I love it for the product as much as for the packaging.  Their original packaging ideas have been some of my favorite, and this one has stuck.  Their face cleanser originally came in the most luxurious glass bottle (now a more convenient but less gratifying tube) and their lip butter balm originally came in a mini version of this tube (now in a more convenient but less cute traditional tube).  Love that this has stayed true to its original, unique packaging.

Cle de Pea Concealer

Cle De Peau Concealer - buttery and lasts forever.  I dab my finger on to the product and then lightly dab my finger under my eyes / over any redness.

Chanel Setting Powder

I love powders to set all of my liquid products.  The dewy glazed donut look has never felt comfortable on my skin, no matter how trendy.  I switch off between the Chanel and the Charolette Tilbury.

Saie Beauty Lash Curler

I used to use the Shesido Eyelash Curler, but switched out for this Saie Eyelash Curler they sent out when they launched their mascara simply for the color.  Love the hint of lilac purple.

Tarte brush

This Tarte brush was an Instagram influenced purchase - I had a Smashbox Kabuki brush for forever that I still love for the red handle, but this definitely was a nice refresh.  I use this with the Charolette Tilbury Setting Powder (for the Chanel one, I use the small sponge included).

 Dior Blush Rosy Glow

This shade of pink makes me happy every time I use it.  The color is sheer and flattering and healthy looking.

Lawless Mascara and Brown Beauty Pie Eyeliner

Annie Lawless said in an interview that she used to use the Chanel Le Volume Mascara and that it took her three years to make one she likes better.  I LOVE this mascara.  It makes your lashes look false but like your own still, and doesn't flake in the slightest.  To be honest my only dislike is the packaging, I wish it looked like the Chanel mascara.  Also I love using a smudgy eyeliner.  This Beauty Pie is not only a great product but the smudger sponge on the end works great for making your eyeliner look smoky.

Brow Combo

Brows have been a new addition within the last few years for me, but I love this combo.  Anastasia for color (brush backwards and upwards / against the grain) and then the Lawless wax to brush / set into place.

Nars Fastlane Lipbalm

Nars After Glow Lipbalm in the shade Fastlane is the perfect pink / purple / mauve / neutral lip color.  Also I feel like I can still kiss my babies when I have this on and I don't get lipgloss or lipstick all over them :)

Henri Bendle bag

I wish Henri Bendle bags were still around!  I've had this since high school and I remember going in with my mom and looking at the massive wall of striped bags and its held up for over fifteen years of daily use.

Makeup Brushes for capsule routine

Left to right - setting powder / bronzer / blush / highlighter / eyeshadow / eyebrows.  Probably need to be washed but these six brushes are my favorites.  The MAC blush brush in the middle is starting to wear in the middle.  My mom's blush brush growing up with this scraggly little brush that barely had any bristles left and I'd always ask her why she didn't get a new one, and now I have my own scraggly little blush brush that I somehow think is the best.

Capsule makeup routine

Someday - hoping to add an Otho Mascara, Eyeliner, Lip Balm and others to this capsule makeup bag :)

Here's to big prayers to see what God might have in store.  My dream is to have good products that spread His good news.  Products on the Sephora and Nordstrom shelves that have Bible verses with God's truth and love filling up peoples makeup bags and vanities and hopefully adding a little light to their hearts.

xx

Aubree
