Fragrance-free luxury

Fragrance like dessert

Fragrance has been in my brain a lot, I’ve written more here and here and elsewhere but finding the balance between fragrance-free to heal my sons skin and feeling like a ten layer cake of fragrance going to bed a few years prior.

The full fragrance-free lifestyle isn’t where I feel like I want to land, but I can physically feel the difference of removing the ten layers of scent from my every day routine.

Lately I’ve been thinking of fragrance like dessert. You could have it every day and that’s a choice, or having it for special occasions and every once in a while make it feel exciting and gives your body a chance to rest in between. But having ten every morning and every night before you go to sleep seems obviously excessive.

However a fragranced body wash, fragranced shampoo, fragranced conditioner, fragranced face wash, fragranced body butter, fragranced leave in conditioner, fragranced face moisturizer, fragranced face makeup, fragranced bronzer, fragranced setting powder, fragranced blush, fragranced eye shadow, fragranced mascara, fragranced lip butter all topped off with a spray of fragranced perfume over fragrance laundered clothes feels like a sugar rush.

Fifteen desserts before breakfast for a minimal makeup every day morning.

Leaning towards fragrance-free for the base and adding a special perfume for a fancy occasion feels like a sweet spot to land, for now.

Any thoughts on fragrance?

PS - nothing against cake. I love a good buttercream birthday cake. YUM.
