Follow Ups XXXIII

Hi hi,

This week...

I. Had a meeting with our new garden lead at QVC, and was pleasantly surprised to find he came from the beauty department and also has a passion for the beauty industry. I loveee meeting people who love talking about beauty. Sometimes I feel like each step forward comes with two steps back in this dream, and this was a moment when I felt like God was giving me a little nudge to keep going.

II. Listened to this podcast by Emma Grede on AI and was intrigued on the different view of AI. I'd originally seen it and passed by because I have an aversion to AI whenever I see it mentioned, however Shea McGee recently referenced the episode and that made me want to rethink. Allowing it to be your upper management level guide in a way instead of just using it as an admin to do small tasks. I gave it a try by brain dumping my ideas that are honestly a little scattered and in the true brainstorm phase, and it was very interesting to see its cohesive summary of what I shared. Trying it out to create a loose plan for me to stick to for posting on Substack and YouTube vs just being whatever I think of that day. Still will do both ways, but being a little more guided is fun to try. All of the responses are my own words, but let AI give a few question prompts for each post to add a little cohesiveness to my open inventor brain.

III. Went to the San Diego Dairy Boy pop-up this week and going to the Shea McGee 'Around the Table' book signing next week. Paige Lorenze and Shea McGee have both been very open about building their business in real time, and it's something I find fascinating. It's fun to be brought along the journey and it's fun to support someones work when you've seen what goes into the product. Hoping to be able to bring that to beauty someday. After getting rid of most social media, both of these companies have a strong YouTube presence and have been part of the 'TV' I've watched over the last year. I haven't been to many pop-ups and have never been to a book signing, but was excited to see two of my favorite companies to follow along with be in driving distance! Both women have created their own little worlds and communities with their companies, and I loved seeing how the details came together in real life at the pop-up. Brought my little guy with me and he loved the blueberries. My mom joined too and kindly waited to get a tiny little blueberry added to the sleeve of my sweatshirt :)

IV. My mom hosted a couples wedding shower for my brother and almost sister-in-law last weekend and I got to help with the flowers. There are a ton of roses around my parents house and I had so much fun filling buckets with roses and making little glass jars to fill the tables. The blooms looked especially pretty all piled up after the party.

xx
